Textural features

With flat-backed cabochons, beading focus is on the cab, with additional elements to work into design

Using both fibre/polymer solids and polymer liquids to sculpt the surface of the foundation of the beadwork adds dimension to the beading around the cab and accent beads

Shoring and Propping

Unusual objects require a different approach to mounting on the LACY'S: often, there is only a small contact point or narrow rims (pointy-backed crystals or seashells, for example) and the challenge is to stabilise the cab securely in place. In joint research and long experimentation, Lace and I have devised a method for using the tiny snippets of LACY'S left from trimming projects to use as a "shoring" collar" or a stack of the small pieces of said Stuff to prop up the edges of irregular cabs, thus making use of all the LACY'S! (And opening up a whole world of eccentric pieces for me...)

Disclaimer: I am not an employee or agent of LACY'S Stiff Stuff, although I might be bordering on "rabid fan".

  • I do not bead bungee cords! and my leap is of the imagination...
  • I neither make nor use patterns--I don't even follow a recipe.
  • Sometimes Serendipity wins, sometimes she loses--which is another reason I use LACY'S. I can take the whole thing apart and use the same piece, variously configured, over again.
  • Since I have fibromyalgia and can never predict how I'll be functioning 2 hours from now, I don't do commissioned pieces anymore. If you like a piece in my gallery, I can't reproduce it, but I can do a riff on it.
  • I work in a fibromaniac fog, so forgive me if I repeat myself or am suddenly off-planet.
